Overview

190 Combo Food Sensitivity serum profile through Meridian Valley Lab provides a comprehensive and scientifically backed approach to identifying delayed immune responses to various foods, offering invaluable insight into potential triggers of chronic health issues. Meridian Valley Lab’s food sensitivity testing specifically evaluates IgG4 and IgE antibodies as a combined method. This testing is designed to identify food sensitivities that may contribute to a wide range of chronic symptoms, from digestive problems to skin issues, fatigue, joint pain, and more.

Collection Instructions:

Sample Collection: The test requires a blood sample, typically drawn from a vein at a healthcare provider’s office or lab. Allow the blood to clot for 20 minutes. Then centrifuge for 15 minutes. Place the separated serum into the transfer tubes. Make sure the tubes are capped tightly. Discard SST vials. Clearly label transfer tube with patient name, date of birth, and date of collection. Complete the requisition form. This blood sample will then be sent to Meridian Valley Lab for analysis.

Laboratory Analysis: The blood sample is analyzed for the presence of IgG4 and IgE antibodies, IgG4 and IgE are both types of immunoglobulins (antibodies) produced by the immune system, but they play very different roles in the body's immune responses, particularly in the context of allergies and food sensitivities. Understanding their functions is crucial for interpreting tests related to food sensitivities and allergies, as well as determining appropriate treatment options.

  • IgG4 Antibodies: These antibodies are linked to delayed hypersensitivity reactions and are often involved in conditions like chronic fatigue, headaches, joint pain, and digestive issues.
  • IgE Antibodies: (Immunoglobulin E) are a specific class of antibodies produced by the immune system. These antibodies play a central role in the body’s response to allergic reactions and are involved in both immediate-type hypersensitivity (allergic reactions) and parasitic infections. IgE antibodies are typically linked to allergic responses and are a key component in conditions such as asthma, hay fever (allergic rhinitis), food allergies, and insect sting allergies.

Results & Interpretation: Results are provided as a list of foods with corresponding antibody levels, which reflect the strength of the immune response. Foods that show higher levels are more likely to be sensitivities or triggers for symptoms. A food elimination plan or further dietary guidance can be based on these results.
